Hamburg Churches: St. Katharinen

The church St. Catherine also is one of Hamburg's four main churches dating back to the Middle Ages.

Like the history of St. Jacobi, that of St. Catherine dates back to the year 1255 when it was first mentioned in an official document.

St. Catherine is a brick building with three naves. In the 18th century, a baroque facade was added.

Now, St. Catherine is not only a place for attending masses. There are carried out many concerts as well, ranging from works of well-known composers like Mozart and Bach to unknown and new concerts.

It is also possible to visit the tower of the church. Due to its closeness to the harbour, you will have a great view of it as well as of Hamburg.
