Shopping in Hamburg

In Hamburg, there are plenty of places for shopping offering things for everyone and every taste.

Your shopping pleasure might even start when you arrive at Hamburg's main train station. On two floors, there are many shops selling clothes as well as other stuff. In addition, there are many cafes in that area called "Wandelhalle". The best thing, however, is that the shops here are opened for longer hours than usual as well as on Sundays.

Very close to Hamburg's main train station, there is Mönckebergstrasse and the Spitalerstrasse where many huge departments stores are located.

However, you must not miss the side streets in this area where you find nearly everything you want in smaller shops as well.

Also near the city center and Rathaus, there is the Jungfernstieg that has been a popular area for shopping for a long time. Here, there are not only department stores, but also very exclusive boutiques selling designer clothes and exquisite stuff. If you are looking for more exclusive and designer clothes, head for the street "Neuer Wall" where not only clothes of world-famous designers, but also jewellery and accessories are sold. Another place with extremely exclusive shops of course are the Alsterarkaden.

There are also quite many passages in the city center such as the Europa Passage, the Levantehaus, the Hamburger Hof at Jungfernstieg and many more.
