In Hamburg, there are events and festivals throughout the year. In addition to the festivals mentioned here, there are for example flea markets nearly every weekend somewhere in Hamburg.
Hamburger Dom
Established in the 14th century, the fun fair Hamburger Dom takes place on Heiliggeistfeld (between St. Pauli and Schanzenviertel) in March, July and November every year.
Hafengeburtstag
One of the major events in Hamburg is the Harbour Birthday (Hafengeburtstag) that is celebrated every year. For five days in May, Hamburg's harbour turns into a festival area with many stalls offering food as well as stages for shows and entertainment.
For ten days in July every year, Hamburg's famous waterways, the fleets, are turned into a place for theater and music performances. In addition, there are many restaurants and stalls with food from around the world.
International Fireworks Festival
In August every year, the International Fireworks Festival is carried out for three days. National as well as international artists present their fireworks every evening. In addition, there are many stages for concerts and entertainment.
Alstervergnügen
Also at the Alster, there is the famous "Alstervergnügen" (Alster Festival), Hamburg's largest summer festival. Here, not only theaters and concerts are presented, but there are also quite many stalls with national as well as international cuisine.
Reeperbahn Festival
Since 2006 and due to its immediate success, the Reeperbahn Festival has been carried out for three days in September. Bands from all over the world play in many of the clubs around Reeperbahn.
